Description:
162, 41, [1], 121, [7] pp. (Small 12mo) modern morocco-backed marbled boards. First Edition of this collection.
A charming little book. Contains the great Stephen Foster song 'O, Susanna' as well as 'Jenny Crack Corn'. As 'O Susanna' is commonly associated with the California Gold Rush is particularly auspicious to have an edition published in 1849. No copies located by OCLC. There was an 1848 Stratton & Barnard edition of the same title but it did not include the Sable Harmonists section.
Condition:
Some browning and foxing, several early owners' names on front endpapers; very good in a fine modern binding.
