Description:
Partially printed form, filled out in ink. 12¾x7¾.
Interesting and scarce document headed "Republic of Texas. To the Sheriff of Washington County - Greetings." The judgement was against Daniel Friar, Thomas Gay and Edward Bailey for $1200 plus court fees, and the sheriff is commanded to seize that amount from the "Goods, Chattles and Estates" of the three. One of the fascinating aspects of the document is the list of Clerk's Fees, including charges for writing petitions, docketing, filing papers, entering appearances, entering orders, entering continuance, subpoena for witness, etc., also sheriff's fees of executing writ, executing subpoena, empanelling jury, mileage, etc.
