| William Bartram of Philadelphia (1739-1823), was the first American-born artist-naturalist. From 1766 to 1776 he was commissioned by Dr. John Fothergill of London to tour the southern colonies, collecting seeds and plants for the Doctor's botanical garden. Includes a staplebound article from Antiques magazine "Bartram's Garden in Philadelphia" by D. Roger Mower, Jr., and is signed by Mower, Jr. |
