First Edition. * Also including another volume by the same author: Atlantis Arisen; or, Talks of a Tourist About Oregon and Washington. (8vo), original cloth. With bookplate of John M. McClelland, Jr. J.B. Lippincott, 1891. With moderately rubbed edges. Together 2 volumes.
Victor was commissioned by the Oregon legislature to record the history of the early wars with the Indians of the Northwest, and she sets forth in detail the causes, events and records of the Cayuse war, the Rogue River wars, and the Yakima war that occurred during the first ten years of the Oregon Territory. Moderate to heavily rubbed spine and extremities; name, address and gift inscription in ink on front free endpaper, newspaper clippings pasted to 2 early blank leaves, frontispiece with some tearing, scattered spots of soiling within; else very good.
