Illustrated with drawings throughout by John Fulton. 11½x8¾, yellow cloth hand-bound in Japanese style, decorative die-cut paper cover, blue painted endpapers, housed in folding blue cloth clamshell box with special silver matador's sword bookmark (4¾" long) inserted in cloth attachment (as issued). First Edition. "Special Artist's Edition." No. 39 of 100 copies, of which only 65 or 70 copies were issued, designed by John Fulton. |
| Includes: 11½x9, yellow paper portfolio with two black dry point etchings on transparent paper and other drawings and photos; a lithographic reproduction of a portrait of Michener as "The Universal Storyteller," signed by Michener in blue ink and signed and numbered by the artist; a dry point lithographic sketch signed and numbered by the artist; 8¼x5½ color glossy photograph a matador inscribed in Spanish by John Fulton in blue ink. With prospectus booklet. This is the original artist's edition which had an expected limitation of 100 copies; however, John Fulton died prior to the completion of this edition. Discussion with him prior to his death indicated that approximately 65 to 70 copies were issued. |
