| First published in 1787, this popular work went through twelve editions over the succeeding 45 years. Best was Keeper of His Majesty's Drawing-room in the Tower of London. The frontispiece shows a man and woman seated on a stream bank, the man with a fishing pole in his hand, while another angler stands on the opposite bank beyond them; there are flies below the image.
