64 pp. With 8 wood-engravings of fish on 7 plates. 6¾x4½, original pictorial wrappers bound in ¾ gilt-ruled red morocco & marbled boards, raised spine bands, marbled endpapers.
Unassuming pamphlet which "seems to gave been endlessly reprinted for souvenirs, premiums, etc., and as none were dated or carry copyright after the first edition, there is no way of determining the order of appearance." The present issue, handsomely bound, includes the original wrappers which bear the imprint of C.J. Clover, Brooklyn. Van Winkle pp. 68-70, variant f. With the bookplate of John Gerard Heckscher on the front flyleaf, that of John Ostrom Enders on the front pastedown.
Condition:
Small ink blot to original front wrapper, rear wrapper with light stain and tiny hole; contents a little darkened, near fine.
